Minnesota NBCT Financial Incentives
Some districts within Minnesota may offer financial stipends and supports for teachers who complete the National Board Certification Process and hold a valid Minnesota State Teaching License. Be sure to check with your local district to see if any financial stipends are offered for NBCTs.
Additionally, The Education Minnesota Foundation for Excellence in Teaching and Learning grants at least 10 scholarships up to $500 per component (up to $1,000 per application) toward the application process for National Board Certification once per year.
State Recognition
Minnesota is one of the states that recognizes National Board Certification as fulfilling renewal requirements for continuing license. This certification fulfills all clock hour requirements, regardless of whether or not the teach achieves certification. Holding a valid National Board certificate fulfills all clock hour requirements for the life of the certificate.
Educational Credits
Some universities in Minnesota may be willing to provide graduate credit for teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Be sure to check your local Minnesota university to see if graduate credit or CEUs is a possibility for you.

Many districts offer support for Minnesota teachers for both renewal and initial certification. It is important to find a group to work with and collaborate on during your NBPTS journey.
