What are the benefits of being an NBCT in LA?

Louisiana NBCT Financial Incentives                 

National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) in Louisiana may or may not receive offer bonuses for candidates. The discretion of this is solely up to the district and currently does not have any state incentive for those who successfully complete the National Board Certification process. The NBPTS encourages teachers to help to partner with the NB and become an advocate in Louisiana to receive the financial awards they deserve.             

State Recognition    

 In many states, National Board Certification meets the requirements for initial and/or advanced teacher certification, as well as license renewal. Make sure to check with the Louisiana State Department of Education policies.

Educational Credits               

Universities frequently provide graduate credit to teachers pursuing National Board Certification. Check with your local Louisiana university to see if it is possible for you to receive graduate credit.

NBPTS Support Options

Louisiana National Board support for teachers is varied throughout the state from Parish to Parish. Candidate Support Providers (CSP) can be found everywhere, however if you are looking for a CSP that works with all certification areas nationally, you may want to check out Tracey Bryant Stuckey. She has worked with well over 500+ teachers virtually since 2019. Tracey offers program cohorts for the Maintenance of Certification MOC Candidates called Renew Like a Pro. Initial or first time certifiers are encouraged to check out the Professional Development programs for Component 3 and Component 4. All programs will culminate in the completion of the specific completions of your portfolio for NBPTS.
